My Roller Derby Name

I picked Rue La La for a few reasons. It is cute and I really like the play on "Ooh La La". I also wanted a short name. My jersey is going to be pretty small, so it won't be able to support a long name. A short name is easier to sign, too (the Outlaws give away autographed posters at every promo). I wanted something mean, but a name that the kids could say. They are so excited about me doing roller derby. I'd hate to have a name they can't remember, is too long for them to say, or has bad words that they aren't allowed to say. Plus, a lot of kids attend the bouts.

My number will be 53. I wanted 5-3, but the rules have been changed and dashes aren't allowed anymore. The numbers 5 and 3 have a lot of meaning for my life. May 3rd is my birthday. I have a family of 5 with 3 children. Plus a whole multitude of connections to the numbers 5 and 3. So now you all will know that my number is 5-3. I wonder if I'll be able to get the announcers to say it that way when I get to play in bouts?

I created the t-shirt above, so you can feel apart of this great thing. It'll help me afford the sport, too. Although bouts are getting a lot of attention, skaters do not get paid. We're allowed to create our own promotional merchandise, so you can imagine I'll be all over that. Jon wants a bumper sticker that says "My Wife's an Outlaw" and I'm sure I could make a killing on ones that say "My Wife's a Derby Dame" or "I Love My Wife's Rink Rash". It takes a special kind of husband to support a derby wife. They are their wives' biggest fans and make a lot of sacrifices so their wives can play the sport. My hubby got off work an hour early and watched the kids, so I could do he promo at the mall. Then he watched them the rest of the day, so I could nap (lol).

"Do the Math" Save the Date Suite

This fashionable "Do the Math" Save the Date set is now available in my store, KBK Swag! It was designed by request for a gay engagement. The save the date announcement is a 2x2" magnet featuring two tuxedos that can be personalized with your basic wedding details.

Attach the save the date magnet to the coordinating postcard that sports two untied bow ties. Each postcard can be personalized with the names of guests and a note regarding the formal invitation. The postcard adds a nice personal touch to your announcements and will keep each magnet safely in place during its journey through the mail.

Finally, wrap it all up together with matching envelopes that are the same shade of red as the heart in the Mr & Mr wedding logo. The inside of the envelopes are patterned with black-on-black diamonds accented with white dots. Personalize the back flap with your return address under another version of the wedding logo.
